Coldplay's recent pact extension with Warner Music's Parlophone (U.K.) and Atlantic (U.S.) labels, along with Wasserman Agency, occurred in 2021, arriving in tandem with their most recent studio album,

"Music of the Spheres," masterminded by Max Martin. Since their debut with "Parachutes" in 2000, the band has reached staggering heights, selling over 100 million albums worldwide and clinching seven Grammy Awards.

The four pillars of Coldplay - frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion - first crossed paths as students at University College London, solidifying their formation in 1997.

Reminiscing about the band's beginnings, Holmes, in an interview with Variety back in 2018, recounted gifting his mother a copy of "Parachutes" in 2000. "I told her, 'I just started working with this band, and they're going to be as big as U2,'" he reminisced. "I knew it. I just knew."

Originating under Parlophone U.K. In 1999 during the label's tenure under EMI (Capitol served as Coldplay's former U.S. Home), Coldplay's journey entered a new chapter when Universal Music Group acquired EMI in 2012. Parlophone was spun off by Universal as a stipulation of the European Commission, with Warner Music Group taking the label under its wing. This move brought Coldplay into Atlantic's fold, marking a new phase that began with "Ghost Stories" in 2014.
